Translation
All the cowherd boys enjoyed their lunch with Kṛṣṇa, showing one another the different tastes of the different varieties of preparations they had brought from home. Tasting one another’s preparations, they began to laugh and make one another laugh.

While taking lunch, each boy began to manifest different kinds of relations with Kṛṣṇa, and they enjoyed each other’s company with joking words.
Purport
Sometimes one friend would say, “Kṛṣṇa, see how my food is relishable,” and Kṛṣṇa would take some and laugh. Similarly, Balarāma, Sudāmā and other friends would taste one another’s food and laugh. In this way, the friends very jubilantly began to eat their respective preparations brought from home.

Tasting a little of the different items brought from their houses, the boys would then call out to their friends. "O friend, Krsna, Sridama, Subala, see how tasty my bara is!" Saying this they would take from their plates and make Krsna and the others eat. This is the meaning rucim darsyantah. Stuffing some jasmine flower in the bada while no one was looking, a boy would say, "O friends, please taste these nice badas!" Believing his statement, they would take his food and eat it. When they started making faces because of the bitterness, the giver would laugh and make the receiver laugh. "Ca" indicates that the giver would get playfully beaten and run away.

The y showed the various excellences of their meals with different tastes and fragrances and different varieties of food by making various faces. They laughed and made others laughed. Though all the food brought from each of their houses was served to all the boys they made known individually the excellent taste of the food brought from their particular house. Meeting together the previous day, they had prepared for the meal in the forest. They showed the tastes generally so that the Lord would accept the items. Therefore the verse mentions “with the Lord.” They had him examine each item, sweet or not sweet, and then gave him small amounts one after the other or all at once, and had him eat them.
