Translation
In that Tālavana forest many fruits are falling from the trees, and many are already lying on the ground. But all the fruits are being guarded by the evil Dhenuka.

“… and all the trees are filled with fruits. Some have fallen down, and some are very ripe even in the trees. It is a very nice place, but because of a great demon, Dhenukāsura, it is very difficult to go there. No one can reach the trees to collect the fruits.

The demon Dhenuka would not allow anyone to eat the delicious ripe palm fruits of the Tālavana, and Kṛṣṇa’s young boyfriends protested this unjust usurpation of the right to enjoy the fruits of a public forest.

From here (ito), from Govardhana, not too far, about eight miles away, there is a very famous forest called Talalasi.. Varaha Purana says: "About one yojana from Mathura in the west portion lies Talavana." This should be understood to be southwest, as that is where it actually lies. There is a forest filled with Tala trees (tala ali). Or ali can mean bees.
"The trees are dark like the color of bees, and thus they must have very tasty fruit. The fruits are under the control (avaruddhani) of Dhenukasura. O Rama, this is a test of your valor! O Krsna, this is a test of how you can vanquish evil. The sakhya bhava that we hold for you will not be restricted by this show of power, rather , with a show of courage (vira rasa), our sakhya rasa will increase."

“Well, so what?” Fearing that question, they reveal their desire. Some of the fruit are falling and others have fallen from the tree. They are plenty, and have fallen on their own. Thus they are very sweet since they are ripe and will uselessly rot. You do not have to take effort to make them fall from the tree. This is good fun for Bhādra month, since all the tāla fruit are ripe then. According to Viṣṇu Purāṇa this incident took place after the defeat of Kāliya in the summer. The order given in Viṣṇu Purāṇa is accepted. Hari-vaṁśa also described killing Dhenuka after Kāliya’s defeat. “Then you boys should go there and take the fruit, common in the forest.” But Dhenuka is obstructing. “So, ask him and take the fruit.” He is very evil. They hint that after Kṛṣṇa kills him, they can take the fruit.

There was no effort needed to make the fruits fall (patanti patitāni). Generally ripe tāla fruits fall on their own. It is understood the pastime took place in Bhadrā month since the fruits fall at that time. . According to Viṣṇu Purāṇa this incident took place after the defeat of Kāliya in the summer. “Why don’t you boys go there and pick the fruit?” They are protected (avaruddhāni) by Dhenuka. “Ask him and take the fruits.” He is wicked (durātmanā). Or “Should you take someone else’s property?” He is a demon. It is proper that you kill him so that we can take the fruit. Or forest fruits are to be enjoyed by everyone. But the demon is protecting them. They should be taken from him.
