Translation
The other ass demons, close friends of Dhenukāsura, were enraged upon seeing his death, and thus they all immediately ran to attack Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma.

The other ass demons, close friends of Dhenukāsura, were enraged upon seeing his death, and thus they all immediately ran to attack Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma.

After the demon had been thrown into the trees, all the friends and associates of Dhenukāsura immediately assembled and attacked Balarāma and Kṛṣṇa with great force. They were determined to retaliate and avenge the death of their friend.
Purport
Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī makes the following comment on this verse: “It is stated here that the ass demons first attacked Kṛṣṇa and then Balarāma (
kṛṣṇaṁ ca rāmaṁ ca
). One reason for this is that the demons, having seen the prowess of Lord Balarāma, thought it wise to attack Kṛṣṇa first. Or it may be that out of affection for His elder brother, Lord Kṛṣṇa placed Himself between Balarāma and the ass demons. The words
kṛṣṇaṁ ca rāmaṁ ca
may also be understood to indicate that Lord Balarāma, out of affection for His younger brother, went to Lord Kṛṣṇa’s side.
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
Seeing the prowess of Balarāma, the relatives left him in fear, and ran towards Kṛṣṇa, who, out of love for his elder brother, had come directly in front. Thus Kṛṣṇa’s name is mentioned first. Out of love for his younger brother, Balarāma then came to his side. Thus his name is also mentioned. Because the both were prominent the word ca is used twice. Bellowing loudly because of the death of their friend, with anger and lamentation they displayed great power.
