Translation (Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura)

Thus instructed by the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the cowherd boys went there and submitted their request. They stood before the brāhmaṇas with palms joined in supplication and then fell flat on the ground to offer respect. KB 10.23.5 Being thus ordered by the Supreme Personality of Godhead, all the boys went to the brāhmaṇas and began to ask for some charity. They approached them with folded hands and fell down on the ground to offer respect.

Purport (Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura)

They approached with folded hands to show their humble attitude, and to obtain some grains. Though they fell on the ground, they appeared more effulgent than the brahmanas who were living the same Vraja.

Purport (Jiva Goswami)

Respecting his instruction they went. They are described as acting with proper conduct, folding their hands and falling on the earth to reveal the bad conduct of the brāhmaṇas.

Purport (Sanatana Goswami)

They went because they had to follow the Lord’s order. They begged in the way instructed by Kṛṣṇa. They are described as acting with proper conduct, folding their hands and falling on the earth to reveal the bad conduct of the brāhmaṇas. It is understood that Kṛṣṇa told them to do this. Or because they were the best of devotees this was natural to them to show devotion to brāhmaṇas. They also chanted the Lord’s names.
