Translation (Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura)

Vasudeva said: My Lord, You are the Supreme Person, beyond material existence, and You are the Supersoul. Your form can be perceived by transcendental knowledge, by which You can be understood as the Supreme Personality of Godhead. I now understand Your position perfectly. KB 10.3.13-14 Vasudeva then began to offer his prayers. “My dear Lord, I can understand who You are. You are the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the Supersoul of all living entities and the Absolute Truth. You have appeared in Your own eternal form, which is directly perceived by us. I understand that because I am afraid of Kaṁsa You have appeared just to deliver me from that fear. You do not belong to this material world; You are the same person who brings about the cosmic manifestation simply by glancing over material nature.”

Purport

Within Vasudeva’s heart, affection for his son and knowledge of the Supreme Lord’s transcendental nature both awakened. In the beginning Vasudeva thought, “Such a beautiful child has been born, but now Kaṁsa will come and kill Him.” But when he understood that this was not an ordinary child but the Supreme Personality of Godhead, he became fearless. Regarding his son as the Supreme Lord, wonderful in everything, he began offering prayers appropriate for the Supreme Lord. Completely free from fear of Kaṁsa’s atrocities, he accepted the child simultaneously as an object of affection and as an object of worship by prayers.

Purport (Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura)

Your intention in showing this form is as follows: "My father has fear for me because of Kamsa, so therefore I will make him fearless by showing him that I am God." Accordingly, I have become fearless on understanding that you are God." With this understanding Vasudeva speaks this verse. "I can understand that you are the supreme person, Karnodasayi Visnu, who activates prakrti by his glance. You are the soul of Brahman realization. You are the pervading supersoul (sarva buddhi drk). You are all these things because you are directly svayam bhagavan."

Purport (Jiva Goswami)

Śrīdhara Svāmī explains this verse. In what way are you known? He addresses the Lord with respect (bhavān) since he understands the Lord’s position as mentioned in the verse. “It is astonishing that you say that I am known as the Supreme Lord. It is well known that the Lord is beyond prakṛti.” But I know this directly by seeing you (sākṣāt). Or Vasudeva speaks in joy on directly seeing the Lord even though he is rare to attain. “You are known directly” means “I have attained you today.” The knowing is described. You are the witness of prakṛti—you are beyond prakṛti-- and you are the bliss or supreme Brahman possessing as well impersonal features (kevalānubhava). You are also the witness of all intelligence, the Paramātmā (sarva-buddhi-dṛk). Since you include these aspects in yourself, you are Bhagavān (ānanda). I see this directly with my eyes. How fortunate I am!
