Translation
His prowess foiled, the lordly elephant Kuvalayāpīḍa went into a frenzied rage out of frustration. But the elephant-keepers goaded him on, and he furiously charged Kṛṣṇa once again.

Kṛṣṇa immediately got up, but the elephant, thinking that He was still lying down, tried to push an ivory tusk through the body of Kṛṣṇa by forcibly stabbing it into the ground. Although the elephant was harassed and angry, the caretaker riding on its head tried to provoke it further. The elephant then rushed madly toward Kṛṣṇa.

The elephant by nature was angry, but now reached the height of anger. Urged on by his trainers he rushed towards Kṛṣṇa in intense anger.

His prowess was thwarted (pratihate) or his prowess was destroyed by the Lord’s cleverness. The elephant by nature was angry, but now reached the height of anger. Urged on by his trainers, he rushed towards Kṛṣṇa in intense anger. All the trainers at this time participated in agitating the elephant. He quickly rushed at Kṛṣṇa who attracted him.
