Translation (Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura)

This one [Kṛṣṇa] took birth from mother Devakī and was brought to Gokula, where He has remained concealed all this time, growing up in the house of King Nanda. KB 10.43.24 The citizens of Mathurā began to recite Kṛṣṇa’s pastimes—His birth as the son of Vasudeva, His being taken into the care of Nanda Mahārāja and his wife in Gokula, and all those events leading to His coming to Mathurā to favor them.

Purport (Jiva Goswami)

The people spoke of the two boys generally, describing their qualities in order to show that they were the Supreme Lords. Now they speak of Kṛṣṇa as the chief person in six verses. Vai indicates that he is famous as appearing from Devakī. That person is the person standing before us now (eṣaḥ). Kila indicates certainty. Until this time (kālam etam) he has lived secretly in Nanda’s house and grown up there.
