Translation
When her lover is far away, a woman thinks of him more than when he is present before her.
Translation (Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura)
When her lover is far away, a woman thinks of him more than when he is present before her.
KB 10.47.35
Kṛṣṇa knew very well the psychology of women. When a woman’s beloved is away, she thinks of him more in meditation than when he is present before her.
Purport
According to Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī, the same holds true for men, who become more absorbed in thinking of a beloved woman when she is far away than when she is present before their eyes.
Purport (Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura)
This verse considers the relative importance of feeling with the heart and seeing with the eyes. Ca indicates that this example holds good for men as well as women. The heart becomes more absorbed in the beloved when the beloved is far away, than when the loved one is present and within sight.
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
“Let that be. Your love is perfect. What about us?” Your love is greater than mine. With that desire he speaks this verse. Even ordinary women think of their lovers in their absence. What to speak of you gopīs. The word ca indicates not just women but everyone. You should therefore forgive my whimsy which is difficult to restrain since it arises from the desire to increase our love for each other.
Purport (Sanatana Goswami)
He explains how this will be accomplished. Just as when even (api) a man who loves women is far away, his mind becomes absorbed in women (āviśya vartate), so the mind of women also becomes absorbed in the man.
