इत्यर्चित: संस्तुतश्च भक्तेन भगवान् हरि: । अक्रूरं सस्मितं प्राह गीर्भि: सम्मोहयन्निव ॥ २८ ॥

ity arcitaḥ saṁstutaś ca bhaktena bhagavān hariḥ akrūraṁ sa-smitaṁ prāha gīrbhiḥ sammohayann iva

[Śukadeva Gosvāmī continued:] Thus worshiped and fully glorified by His devotee, the Supreme Lord Hari smilingly addressed Akrūra, completely charming him with His words.

[Śukadeva Gosvāmī continued:] Thus worshiped and fully glorified by His devotee, the Supreme Lord Hari smilingly addressed Akrūra, completely charming him with His words. KB 10.48.28 Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa was very much pleased by Akrūra’s offering of prayers. With His smile captivating Akrūra more and more, the Lord replied to his submissive devotional statements with the following sweet words:

Krsna somewhat bewildered Akrura (sammohayan iva), by increasing his awareness of his powers.

The Lord was praised by favorable words (sam—stutaḥ) revealing Akrūra’s intentions such as verse 24. Kṛṣṇa put him into a state in which he could not properly reason (sammohanyan) with his special, pleasing words expressing of the Lord’s human pastimes and filled with pure bhakti, as in the next verse, Kṛṣṇa was filled with all powers (bhagavān), with attractive pastimes (harih).

Purport (Sanatana Goswami)

Akrūra’s devotion (bhaktena) was indicated by his worship and his praises. The Lord was pleased with this. Therefore he smiled, and spoke with affection and sincerity (prāha) since he was full of all qualities (bhagavān), because he was all attractive (hariḥ). He bewildered Akrūra by his words alone, not in terms of truth. Akrūra could not determine the true meaning of the words and he did not expect the Lord to speak directly to him. Iva indicates that because the Lord had good conduct, bewildering words were not expected. Or by his sweet words, the Lord produced great possessiveness for the Lord in Akrūra. Iva indicates that Akrūra naturally had possessiveness for the Lord.
