Translation (Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura)

For persons fearful of death and rebirth, I see no shelter other than Your liberating lotus feet, for You are the Supreme Lord. KB 10.49.12 “I can fully understand that but for Your lotus feet there is no shelter or protection. Your lotus feet can deliver all aggrieved souls because You are the Supreme Personality of Godhead. One can be safe from the clutches of repeated birth and death by Your mercy only.

Purport (Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura)

"I do not see any shelter other than your lotus feet which can give liberation (apavargikat)."

Purport (Jiva Goswami)

I should not pray to anyone else for protection because your feet deliver everyone from the root of all suffering, saṁsāra. I have this conviction. Brahma-jñāna cannot protect me. ye ’nye ’ravindākṣa vimukta-māninas tvayy asta-bhāvād aviśuddha-buddhayaḥ āruhya kṛcchreṇa paraṁ padaṁ tataḥ patanty adho ’nādṛta-yuṣmad-aṅghrayaḥ O lotus-eyed Lord, although nondevotees, having impure intelligence because of no devotion to you, think that they are liberated and become jīvanmuktas after severe austerities and penances, they fall down from their position of imagined superiority because they have no regard for the lotus feet of you and your devotees. SB 10.2.32 There is no shelter other than your lotus feet for jīvas fearing beginningless and repeated death (mṛtu-saṁsārāt). There is no other shelter because you are the Lord since you alone award liberation. madīyaṁ mahimānaṁ ca paraṁ brahmeti śabditam vetsyasy anugṛhītaṁ me sampraśnair vivṛtaṁ hṛdi By my mercy, you will realize my power known as the impersonal Brahman, which will be disclosed in your heart through questions and answers. SB 8.24.38 māṁ ca yo ’vyabhicāreṇa bhakti-yogena sevate | sa guṇān samatītyaitān brahma-bhūyāya kalpate || He who serves me in pure devotional service surpasses the guṇas, and is qualified for Brahman. BG.14.26 brahmaṇo hi pratiṣṭhāham amṛtasyāvyayasya ca | śāśvatasya ca dharmasya sukhasyaikāntikasya ca || I am the basis of impersonal Brahman, the basis of indestructible liberation, the basis of the eternal method of bhakti and the basis of the prema of the unalloyed devotee. BG 14.27 These verses describe the famous power of the Lord (greater than Brahman.). Or there is no shelter other than you because you deliver (apavargikāt) even Śiva (īśvarasya) from fear of Vṛkāsura and other demons.

Purport (Sanatana Goswami)

“Pray for something else for gaining protection. Perform sat-karmas etc.” To reject such a proposal this verse states that the Lord gives protection not just from enemies but even from saṁsāra. Everyone should surrender to the Lord. I do not see other methods like sat-karmas (na anyat). Mention of “I” expresses necessity of preserving her qualification for surrender to the Lord. By performing renunciation or other methods, generally mankind (nṛnām) becomes fearful. Or for all jīvas (nṛnām) who are fearful of death, there is no other way except surrender to your lotus feet. Death indicates all of saṁsāra including birth, but because death is the most painful it is mentioned in place of saṁsāra. Or men fear punishment at death (mṛtyu) what to speak of repeated death (saṁsārāt). Not seeing anyone with the proper power, she gives the reason for her choice. You are the Lord (īśvarasya) and therefore his feet are beyond the material world (apavargikāt). Or those feet give freedom from difficulties like killing a brāhmaṇa (apavargikāt), even for Śiva (īśvarasya).
