स उत्थाय चिरं सुप्त: शनैरुन्मील्य लोचने । दिशो विलोकयन् पार्श्वे तमद्राक्षीदवस्थितम् ॥ ११ ॥

Verse text

sa utthāya ciraṁ suptaḥ śanair unmīlya locane diśo vilokayan pārśve tam adrākṣīd avasthitam

saḥ he ; utthāya waking ; ciram for a long time ; suptaḥ asleep ; śanaiḥ slowly ; unmīlya opening ; locane his eyes ; diśaḥ in all directions ; vilokayan looking about ; pārśve at his side ; tam him, Kālayavana ; adrākṣīt he saw ; avasthitam standing .

Translation

The man awoke after a long sleep and slowly opened his eyes. Looking all about, he saw Kālayavana standing beside him.

The man awoke after a long sleep and slowly opened his eyes. Looking all about, he saw Kālayavana standing beside him. KB 10.51.11 The sleeping man had been lying down for a very long time. When awakened by the kicking of Kālayavana, he immediately opened his eyes and began to look around in all directions. At last he saw Kālayavana standing nearby.

Purport (Jiva Goswami)

While he was ruling in the Treta-yuga of the first cycle of yugas in Vaivasvata Manvantara, he went help the devatās. After that he had been sleeping, till the present twenty-eighth cycle. He opened his eyes slowly because of being dizzy from suddenly being wakened by force.
