“My dear King, now you may ask from Me any benediction you wish, and I am prepared to fulfill your desire. It is My eternal principle that anyone who comes under My shelter must have all his desires fulfilled by My grace.”
Purport
The
ācāryas
explain that we lament when we feel incomplete, when we have lost something or when we fail to achieve something desirable. One who has satisfied Kṛṣṇa and thus attained the Lord’s mercy will never be troubled in these ways. Lord Kṛṣṇa is the reservoir of all pleasure, and He enjoys sharing His spiritual bliss with all living beings. We need only cooperate with the Supreme Lord.
Purport (Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura)
The person who has satisfied me does not have to lament. The benedictions given by others are perishable, and therefore the benefactor laments when the boon disappears. But for one who surrenders to me, I give benedictions which are not perishable. Therefore he does not lament.
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
I will fulfill all desires suitable for a king and sage. Those who surrender to me, what to speak of those who are full of devotion will no longer lament. He hints that Mucukunda should not desire any other benediction than surrender.
Purport (Sanatana Goswami)
I will fulfill all desires suitable for a king and sage. Those who surrender to me, what to speak of those who are full of devotion, will no longer lament. Or he who attains the boon will no longer lament. Ask for happiness after this life as well, since you are a sage among kings. You are qualified for happiness in this life and the next since you are a king and a sage.
