ततो रथादवप्लुत्य खड्‍गपाणिर्जिघांसया । कृष्णमभ्यद्रवत् क्रुद्ध: पतङ्ग इव पावकम् ॥ ३० ॥

Verse text

tato rathād avaplutya khaḍga-pāṇir jighāṁsayā kṛṣṇam abhyadravat kruddhaḥ pataṅga iva pāvakam

Synonyms

tataḥ then ; rathāt from his chariot ; avaplutya leaping down ; khaḍga a sword ; paṇiḥ in his hand ; jighāṁsayā with the desire to kill ; kṛṣṇam Lord Kṛṣṇa ; abhyadravat he ran toward ; kruddhaḥ furious ; pataṅgaḥ a bird ; iva as ; pāvakam the wind .

Translation

Then Rukmī leaped down from his chariot and, sword in hand, rushed furiously toward Kṛṣṇa to kill Him, like a bird flying into the wind.

Then Rukmī leaped down from his chariot and, sword in hand, rushed furiously toward Kṛṣṇa to kill Him, like a bird flying into the wind. KB 10.54.30 Being repeatedly baffled in his attempts, Rukmī took his sword and ran swiftly toward Kṛṣṇa, just as a fly proceeds toward a fire.

Rukmī ran directly at Kṛṣṇa.

Because his weapons were destroyed (tataḥ), being angry, he jumped from the chariot and ran towards Kṛṣṇa, like a bird in the wind: he was running to his death.
