Translation
The two Lords met with Bhīṣma, Kṛpa, Vidura, Gāndhārī and Droṇa. Showing sorrow equal to theirs, They cried out, “Alas, how painful this is!”

On arriving in Hastināpura, Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma first went to see Bhīṣmadeva because he was the chief of the Kuru dynasty. They then saw Kṛpācārya, Vidura, Gāndhārī and Droṇa. Other members of the Kuru dynasty were not sorry, because they wanted the Pāṇḍavas and their mother to be killed. But some family members, headed by Bhīṣma, were actually very sorry for the incident, and Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma expressed equal sorrow, without disclosing the actual situation.

Śrīla Śrīdhara Svāmī points out that those who were involved in the assassination attempt were of course not at all sorry to hear of the Pāṇḍavas’ death. The persons specifically mentioned here, however — Bhīṣma, Kṛpa, Vidura, Gāndhārī and Droṇa — were actually unhappy to hear of the supposed tragedy.

Though knowing that the Pandavas had escaped through a tunnel, hearing that the Pandavas and Kunti were burned, he went to the Kurus to perform the necessary rites.

Bhīṣma is described with Vidura (sa-viduram) since they had similar desires or were both devotees of Kṛṣṇa. Or that day they by chance were together. Bhīṣma is mentioned first because they met Bhīṣma first, since he was most respected. The others are in the order that they met them on the path. The two, as well as Vidura (who also knew the truth), imitated grief like the others. Gathering with them, they all cried loudly (ha).

By showing conviction that the Pāṇḍavas were burned, evil Duryodhana hoped that attempts to find news of the Pāṇḍavas living would cease. The word ca indicates all the persons mentioned and Dhṛtarāṣṭra and others. Even Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma (ca) lamented. Vidura is mentioned with Bhīṣma and Kṛpa because he wanted to comfort them. Or he is mentioned as a secondary figure because he was a devotee in that group. Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma are mentioned at the end to show that they showed equal sorrow with Bhīṣma and others. Gathering with them they cried out loudly (hā). The elders such as Bhīṣma are mentioned first. Gāndhārī was superior to Droṇa. Because he came later, Kṛpa is considered inferior.
