आनर्तसौवीरमरूंस्तीर्त्वा विनशनं हरि: । गिरीन् नदीरतीयाय पुरग्रामव्रजाकरान् ॥ २१ ॥

ānarta-sauvīra-marūṁs tīrtvā vinaśanaṁ hariḥ girīn nadīr atīyāya pura-grāma-vrajākarān

Synonyms

ānarta sauvīra — marūn — Ānarta (the province of Dvārakā), Sauvīra (eastern Gujarat) and the desert (of Rajasthan) ; tīrtvā crossing through ; vinaśanam Vinaśana, the district of Kurukṣetra ; hariḥ Lord Kṛṣṇa ; girīn hills ; nadīḥ and rivers ; atīyāya passing ; pura cities ; grāma villages ; vraja cow pastures ; ākarān and quarries .

Translation

As He traveled through the provinces of Ānarta, Sauvīra, Marudeśa and Vinaśana, Lord Hari crossed rivers and passed mountains, cities, villages, cow pastures and quarries.

As He traveled through the provinces of Ānarta, Sauvīra, Marudeśa and Vinaśana, Lord Hari crossed rivers and passed mountains, cities, villages, cow pastures and quarries. KB 10.71.21 In this way the procession of Lord Kṛṣṇa’s party advanced toward Hastināpura (New Delhi) and gradually passed through the kingdoms of Ānarta (Gujarat Province), Sauvīra (Surat), the great desert of Rājasthān, and then Kurukṣetra. Between those kingdoms were many mountains, rivers, towns, villages, pasturing grounds and mining fields. The procession passed through all these places in its advance.

Krsna, passing through Anarta, Sauvira, Maru and Kuruksetra (vinasanam), crossed mountains, rivers, cities, villages, pastures and quarries.

Crossing mountains and rivers, he passed through different provinces and passed through cities, villages, cow pastures and mines. Sauvīra and Pāñcāla were on the road he took.

The provinces were huge, like the ocean. Thus they had to be crossed as one crosses the ocean (tīrthvā). Or tīrthvā indicates that they crossed rivers. The Lord removed all suffering from the people of those places (hariḥ). He crossed the rivers and mountains of those places.
