मण्डलानि विचित्राणि सव्यं दक्षिणमेव च । चरतो: शुशुभे युद्धं नटयोरिव रङ्गिणो: ॥ ३५ ॥

maṇḍalāni vicitrāṇi savyaṁ dakṣiṇam eva ca caratoḥ śuśubhe yuddhaṁ naṭayor iva raṅgiṇoḥ

Synonyms

maṇḍalāni arcs ; vicitrāṇi skillful ; savyam to the left ; dakṣiṇam to the right ; eva ca also ; caratoḥ of them who were moving ; śuśubhe appeared splendid ; yuddham the fight ; naṭayoḥ of actors ; iva like ; raṅgiṇoḥ on a stage .

Translation

As they skillfully circled left and right, like actors dancing on a stage, the fight presented a magnificent spectacle.

As they skillfully circled left and right, like actors dancing on a stage, the fight presented a magnificent spectacle. KB 10.72.35 They were both expert fighters with clubs, and their techniques of striking each other were so beautiful that they appeared to be two dramatic artists dancing on a stage.

Purport

Jarāsandha and Bhīma here demonstrate their expertise in the use of clubs. Thus it can be understood that both fighters were fearless and steady even in the rage of battle.

Swinging their clubs to the left and right in various ways (mandalani vicitrani), they appeared like dancers, by their skillful use of their weapons and their fearlessness.

Sometimes they even circled to the right (eva). And they also faced each other (ca). They moved about since they were in the arena (raṅgiṇoh). The fight appeared beautiful (śuśubhe).
