कथं राममसम्भ्रान्तं जित्वाजेयं सुरासुरै: । शाल्वेनाल्पीयसा नीत: पिता मे बलवान् विधि: ॥ २४ ॥

Verse text

kathaṁ rāmam asambhrāntaṁ jitvājeyaṁ surāsuraiḥ śālvenālpīyasā nītaḥ pitā me balavān vidhiḥ

Synonyms

katham — how ; rāmam — Lord Balarāma ; asambhrāntam — never confused ; jitvā — defeating ; ajeyam — undefeatable ; sura — by demigods ; asuraiḥ — and demons ; śālvena — by Śālva ; alpīyasā — very small ; nītaḥ — taken ; pitā — father ; me — My ; bala — vān — powerful ; vidhiḥ — fate .

Translation

[Lord Kṛṣṇa said:] Balarāma is ever vigilant, and no demigod or demon can defeat Him. So how could this insignificant Śālva defeat Him and abduct My father? Indeed, fate is all-powerful!

[Lord Kṛṣṇa said:] Balarāma is ever vigilant, and no demigod or demon can defeat Him. So how could this insignificant Śālva defeat Him and abduct My father? Indeed, fate is all-powerful! KB 10.77.24 “How could that happen? My brother, Lord Balarāma, is there, and it is impossible for anyone to conquer Balarāmajī. He is in charge of Dvārakā City, and I know He is always alert. How could Śālva possibly enter the city and arrest My father in that way? Whatever Śālva may be, his power is limited, so how could it be possible that he has conquered the strength of Balarāmajī and taken away My father, arresting him as described by this man? Alas! Destiny is, after all, very powerful.”

Balarāma is ever vigilant (asambhrāntam).How can my father be taken by Śālva who is insignificant (alpīyasā) in comparison to Balarāma? Though it is impossible, it has possible by the will of the Lord. In lamentation he says “Fate is strong.”

Balarāma is ever vigilant (asambhrāntam).How can my father be taken by Śālva who is insignificant (alpīyasā) in comparison to Balarāma? Though it is impossible, it has been made possible by the will of the Lord. In lamentation he says “Fate is strong.” This ignorance is completely contrary to the Lord. Later, this will be clear from the words of Śukadeva.
