अथोचुर्मुनयो राजन्नाभाष्यानकदुन्दुभिम् । सर्वेषां श‍ृण्वतां राज्ञां तथैवाच्युतरामयो: ॥ ३४ ॥

athocur munayo rājann ābhāṣyānalsadundabhim sarveṣāṁ śṛṇvatāṁ rājṣāṁ tathaivācyuta-rāmayoḥ

Synonyms

atha — then ; ūcuḥ — said ; munayaḥ — the sages ; rājan — O King (Parīkṣit) ; ābhāṣya — speaking ; ānaka — dundubhim — to Vasudeva ; sarveṣām — all ; śṛṇvatām — as they listened ; rājṣām — the kings ; tathā eva — also ; acyuta — rāmayoḥ — Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma .

Translation

[Śukadeva Gosvāmī continued:] The sages then spoke again, O King, addressing Vasudeva while all the kings, along with Lord Acyuta and Lord Rāma, listened.

[Śukadeva Gosvāmī continued:] The sages then spoke again, O King, addressing Vasudeva while all the kings, along with Lord Acyuta and Lord Rāma, listened. KB 10.84.34 The sages present then began to address Vasudeva in the presence of Lord Kṛṣṇa, Balarāma and many other kings, and, as requested by him, they gave their instructions:

While the kings, Krsna and Balarama listened the sages spoke to Vasudeva. Genitive case is used instead of locative case here.

After this, understanding the intentions of Vasudeva and Nārada, to harmonize their intentions, the sages spoke. In verse 41 they resolve Nārada’s statements. They addressed Vasudeva saying, “O crest jewel of success! O most worthy of worship!” The genitive case (sarveṣāṁ śṛṇvatāṁ rājñāṁ ) is used to express the locative case, since they spoke to instruct the kings. Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma listened, since they were present, to approve their words.

Purport (Sanatana Goswami)

After hearing the glories of Vasudeva, the sages spoke. O king! Śukadeva speaks in bliss because of the glories of Vasudeva. Or he speaks on seeing the beauty of Parīkṣit, who is transformed with prema on hearing about Vasudeva. They spoke while all the kings listened. The instructions were for them. Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma also listened in order to affirm the meaning of the sages’ words.
