Translation
From that region they entered a body of water resplendent with huge waves being churned by a mighty wind. Within that ocean Arjuna saw an amazing palace more radiant than anything he had ever seen before. Its beauty was enhanced by thousands of ornamental pillars bedecked with brilliant gems.

After this, Lord Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna entered a vast spiritual water. This spiritual water is called the Kāraṇa Ocean, which means that this ocean is the origin of the creation of the material world; this place is also known as Virajā, because it is free from the influence of the three qualities of the material world. In the Mṛtyuṣjaya-tantra, a Vedic scripture, there is a vivid description of this Kāraṇa Ocean, or Virajā. It is stated there that the highest planetary system within the material world is Satyaloka, or Brahmaloka, beyond which are Rudraloka and Mahā-Viṣṇuloka. Regarding this Mahā-Viṣṇuloka, it is stated in the Brahma-saṁhitā, yaḥ kāraṇārṇava-jale bhajati sma yoga-nidrām ananta-jagad-aṇḍa-sa-roma-kūpaḥ: [Bs. 5.47] “Lord Mahā-Viṣṇu is lying in the Kāraṇa Ocean. When He exhales, innumerable universes come into existence, and when He inhales, innumerable universes enter within Him.” In this way, the material creation is generated and again withdrawn. When Lord Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna entered the water, it appeared that there was a strong hurricane of transcendental effulgence blowing, and the water of the Kāraṇa Ocean was greatly agitated. By the grace of Lord Kṛṣṇa, Arjuna had the unique experience of being able to see the very beautiful Kāraṇa Ocean.
Accompanied by Kṛṣṇa, Arjuna saw a large palace within the water. There were many thousands of pillars and columns made of valuable jewels, and the glaring effulgence of those columns was so beautiful that Arjuna was charmed by it.

He entered the causal ocean, oranamented with huge waves agitated by strong wind, and saw a wondrous abode. It was called Mahakala puram according to Sridhara Swami, as found in the MrtyunjayaTantra.
"O Devi, above the universe is the great abode of Brahma. Above that are the abodes of Visnu forms and above that those of Siva’s forms. Above that is the abode of Mahavisnu and above that the abode of Mahadevi. Above that lies time which brings fear to all. Then comes the ever fresh ocean of nectar of brahman. On its bank stays Maha Kala, controller of all.."
The great abode of Brahma is Satya loka. The abode of the Visnu forms refers to material place called Vaikuntha, where the devata sons of mother Vikuntha reside. The abode of the Siva forms is Rudra loka, situated within the layer of ahamkara. The abode of Mahavisnu is a place situated in the covering layer of mahatattva. The abode of Mahadevi is the place within the covering layer of prakrti. The nectar ocean is the causal ocean. Mahakala is the Lord of Maha Vaikuntha, situated in the spiritual sky. His abode, situated in the causal ocean, is called Mahakalapuram. The verb " saw" appearing in verse 54 is understood in this and the following verse. This abode was the most dazzling among all dazzling things (dyumattamam).

Arjuna entered the Virajā River. Padma Purāṇa says pradhāna-parama-vyomnor antare virajā-nadi: between the material and spiritual worlds lies the Virajā River. It had huge waves because of the wind. In the water there was an astonishing palace, surpassing everything in all the worlds. Vai means famous. It shone even more than the brahma-jyoti (dyuta-tamam) since it was adorned with a thousand pillars made of gems which shone by their own power. This indicates also the great size of the palace. Mṛtyuñjaya-tantra describes this place:
brahmāṇḍasyordhvato devi brahmaṇaḥ sadanaṁ mahat |
tad-ūrdhvaṁ devi viṣṇūnāṁ tad-ūrdhvaṁ rudra-rūpiṇām ||
tad-ūrdhvaṁ ca mahā-viṣṇor mahā-devyās tad-ūrdhvagam |
kālātikālayoś cātha paramānandayos tataḥ |
pāre purī mahā-devyāḥ kālaḥ sarva-bhayāvahaḥ |
tataḥ śrī-ratna-pīyūṣa-vāridhir nitya-nūtanaḥ ||
tasya pāre mahā-kālaḥ sarva-grāhaka-rūpa-dhṛk |
tasyottare samudbhāsī ratna-dvīpaḥ śivāhvayaḥ ||
dhyāyet tatra paramānandaṁ ramyopāsyaṁ paraṁ mahaḥ ||
smared vṛndāvane ramye mohayantam anāratam |
vallavī-vallabhaṁ kṛṣṇaṁ gopa-kanyāḥ sahasraśaḥ ||
O Devi, above the universe is the great abode of Brahmā. Above that is the abode of the son of Vikuṇṭha and above that those of Siva’s forms in the layer of ahaṅkāra of the universal shell. Above that is an abode of Mahāviṣṇu situated in the mahat-tattva layer, and above that the abode of Durgā, in the prakṛti layer. Above that is time which brings fear to all, along with time past and future, full of bliss. Then comes the ever fresh, excellent ocean of nectar, Virajā. On its bank stays Mahā-Kāla (Mahāviṣṇu), controller of all. In the water on the north side, is the auspicious jeweled island.One should meditate on that most glorious place, full of the highest bliss, worshiped by Ramā. One should remember Kṛṣṇa who enchants everyone continually in attractive Vṛndāvana, and the thousands of gopīs.
