dvijātmajā me yuvayor didṛkṣuṇā mayopanītā bhuvi dharma-guptaye kalāvatīrṇāv avaner bharāsurān hatveha bhūyas tvarayetam anti me

Translation

[Lord Mahā-Viṣṇu said:] I brought the brāhmaṇa’s sons here because I wanted to see the two of you, My expansions, who have descended to the earth to save the principles of religion. As soon as you finish killing the demons who burden the earth, quickly come back here to Me.

[Lord Mahā-Viṣṇu said:] I brought the brāhmaṇa's sons here because I wanted to see the two of you, My expansions, who have descended to the earth to save the principles of religion. As soon as you finish killing the demons who burden the earth, quickly come back here to Me. KB 10.89.58 “My dear Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna, I was very eager to see you both, and therefore I arranged to take away the babies of the brāhmaṇa and keep them here. I have been expecting to see you both at this palace. You have appeared in the material world as My incarnations in order to minimize the force of the demoniac persons who burden the world. Now, after killing all these unwanted demons, you will please come back to Me.

As explained by Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī, the secret import of these words spoken for Arjuna’s edification is as follows: “You two, who have descended along with your kalās, your personal energies, should kindly return to Me after killing the demons who burden the earth. Please quickly send these demons here to Me for the sake of their liberation.” It is stated in Śrī Hari-vaṁśa and in the Second Canto of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam that the path of gradual liberation passes through the intermediate station of Lord Mahā-Viṣṇu’s abode, outside the eighth shell of the universe.

"You two who have appeared as my parts, please come (itam) quickly (tvaraya) to me (me anti) " He says this to bewilder Arjuna. The real meaning is, " You who have appeared with your saktis (kala avatirnau), again having killed the demons, the burden of the earth, make them quickly come to be situated near me." The verb a dual imperative form. Anti is an indeclinable , meaning "towards proximity" "Let them come here, and be liberated." This is understood because according to Harivamsa, the dhama of Visnu is attainable only by those who are liberated. In the second canto also it is said, describing the gradual steps in liberation, that liberation is achieved after piercing the eight coverings of the universe.

Mahāviṣṇu expressed through his words that the two were greater than himself. O two Lords who have appeared with all your expansions and śaktis to protect the position of brāhmaṇas and other aspects of dharma! I brought the sons of the brāhmaṇa to my abode (bhuvi) because of a desire to see you two. When Arjuna asks, Kṛṣṇa explains in Hari-vaṁśa: mad-darśanārthaṁ te bālā hṛtās tena mahātmanā / viprārtham eṣyate kṛṣṇo nāgacched anyatheti hi “He stole the children in order to see me.” Kṛṣṇa went for the brāhmaṇa. Otherwise he would otherwise not go there. This is not astonishing for it is said: yan martya-līlaupayikaṁ sva-yoga- māyā-balaṁ darśayatā gṛhītam vismāpanaṁ svasya ca saubhagarddheḥ paraṁ padaṁ bhūṣaṇa-bhūṣaṇāṅgam Kṛṣṇa possesses that form suitable for human pastimes to show the full capacity of his yoga-māyā. That form astonishes even the lord of Vaikuṇṭha. It is the pinnacle of auspicious qualities and enhances the beauty of his ornaments. SB 3.2.1 The rest of the verse should be explained. “Now that this has happened and you have seen us, what should be done?” Again killing the remaining demons on earth, in order for them to come quickly near (ante) me, make the demons attain liberation. According to Hari-vaṁśa the demons on being liberated came to Mahāviṣṇu’s abode. Anti is non conjugated particle with a dative meaning (in order to come to me). Kriya-artha-upapadasya ca karmaṇi sthāninaḥ: the dative case is used to express a surpressed infinitive. (Pāṇini 2.3.14) An example of this is edhobhyo vrajati: he goes (to bring) fuel. Tvarayetam is a causative form in potential mood. Having killed them, make them quickly come. This is like the example “Making a glance, send it off.” There are two verbs and one object. The other meaning “You have appeared as my expansions (me kalāvatīrṇau) so quickly return” is problematic since the word me occurs at a distance from kalāvatīrṇau. If one takes the meaning as “You should quickly come near me” it can also be explained that this is an eternal pastime of Svayam Bhagavān.

I wanted to see you two. This indicates Viṣṇu’s great affection for them, and their great beauty. I have brought the sons near to me. Arjuna should not feel ashamed that he could not protect the children. You two have appeared on earth with my unlimited beauty or with various expansions like Matsya (kalayā). This means “Without you two, my beauty is lacking.” Or you have appeared with my complete powers (kalayā). Quickly return to this place, near me. Their power is shown: first kill the demons burdening the earth.
