Translation (Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura)

Beloved King Parīkṣit, I have narrated to you the topics you originally inquired about—the pastimes of the Hari, the soul of the universe. Now, what more do you wish to hear? I have spoken to you about jṣāna, about which you did not inquire. I have previously given the answers to what you (ātmā) asked me concerning the pastimes of the Lord. He again asks Parīkṣit, in order to proclaim the perfection of his disciple. Thus ends the commentary on the Fifth Chapter of the Twelfth Canto of the Bhāgavatam for the pleasure of the devotees, in accordance with the previous ācāryas. Chapter Six Passing of Parīkṣit

Purport

In his commentary on this text, Śrīla Jīva Gosvāmī has elaborately demonstrated, by citing many Bhāgavatam verses, the exalted devotional position of King Parīkṣit, who was fully determined to fix his mind upon Lord Kṛṣṇa and go back home, back to Godhead. Thus end the purports of the humble servants of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda to the Twelfth Canto, Fifth Chapter, of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, entitled “Śukadeva Gosvāmī’s Final Instructions to Mahārāja Parīkṣit.”
