jagrāha līlayā prāptāṁ

Translation
When the Lord saw the mace flying toward Him, He stood firmly where He was and caught it with the same ease as Garuḍa, the king of birds, would seize a serpent.

Seeing the enemy’s club approaching, the Lord playfully caught as it arrived, just as Garuḍa catches a female snake.
Tām refers to the club.
